Two Fattoria Montecchio Wines win Silver Medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Two of Fattoria Montecchio´s wines, true to their tradition, have been awarded with Silver medals in the most prestigious wine contest in the world: the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA).

They are the Chianti Classico Docg Riserva 2011 and the Chianti Classico Docg 2013, with respectively 90 and 91 points in the 2016 edition.
The DWWA jury is a group of some of the most respected, expert and professional wine connoisseurs in the world and the awards are internationally recognised due to their rigorous and reliable method of tasting and selecting.
To apply for the competition each competitor must send four bottles of each type of wine subscribed to the contest to the warehouse of Decanter in the UK.
Each wine received is then classified according to the country and region of origin, the colour, the vine, the style, the year and the price; this is to make sure that each wine is judged according to its category when it is put before each juror.
The jurors then consult each other and exchange opinions in order to reach a unanimous decision on how many points to assign to each wine. The wines worthy of a gold or silver medal are then tasted a second time by the president of the jury in order to confirm the worthiness of the medals to be given.
To get a silver medal, which corresponds to a “Highly recommended” wine, the product must get between 90 and 94 points out of 100.
The results of the awards are published in the special edition, dedicated entirely to the awards, attached to the magazine Decanter and on their internet site: www.decanter.com.
